Georgette can be classified into various categories based on the type of yarn used in its making
- Silk Georgette
- Satin Georgette
- Polyester Georgette
- Jacquard Georgette
- Nylon Georgette

How to Check Georgette Fabric is Pure or Not?
1.Touch Test
Rub the fabric between your fingers.
Faux Georgette
If the feel is Rough and Harsh then it is faux georgette.
Pure Georgette
If it feels Rough but soft then it is Pure georgette
2. Burn Test
Take a fabric swatch of the fabric and Burn it
Faux georgette-
- The burning stops as soon as the flame is moved away from the fabric.
- Smells like burning plastic
- Ash is in the form of beads
- No afterglow
Pure Georgette
- Burning continues even if the flame is removed
- Smells like a burning paper
- Ash is soft and powdery
- Afterglow is present
3. Water Stain Test
Wet half of your fabric swatch with water and dry it with a hot iron
Faux Georgette
After drying no water stain is visible
Pure Georgette
Water stain is clearly visible even after the fabric is completely dry

2. Drying in sunlight may result in color fading
